VIP Gatsby

After an in-depth assessment, Gatsby has been streamed to our very important pet program for health/behavioural reasons. He will now have the important job of providing love to his forever family. Special thanks go out to his puppy and adult raisers for all their hard work.

All of the training and care provided to each dog would not be possible without the support of generous volunteers and donors.

Training Updates

Gatsby is 3 months old now and quickly mastering all his puppy kindergarten skills! He is a sweet boy that also has a very spunky side when playing with his big brother Chartwell. He loves going for walks and has settled right into life at the office.

Gatsby is nearly six months old and growing quickly. He loves to find a sunny spot to nap and works hard to impress you with his skills. Gatsby recently mastered spin and is eager to show it off! He is excellent on public outings in his jacket and is working on settling for longer periods of time.

Gatsby is a sweet boy who is growing fast – at nearly 9 months old he is very lanky and just finished grade school! He has had lots of new experiences this spring, including going to a cottage and learning to swim. He is rocking his cues and continues to work hard at settling in new environments and ignoring distractions. His confidence in being alone is growing every day and he has been impressing his trainers with his excellent loose-leash walking skills.

Gatsby just turned one! He celebrated with a trip to a beach where he got to do all of his favourite things – swimming, playing fetch, and running with his friends. Gatsby continues to improve his ability to settle for longer periods of time – he recently spent 5 hours happily snoozing and greeting new students at the University of Waterloo’s move-in day. We are working on keeping focus on his handler when he is around other NSD dogs as he continues to get very excited at the prospect of playing with his friends.

Mr. Gatsby has grown and matured so much over the past few months! He is confidently taking on new situations, adding duration to his skills, and showing us that he is ready for new challenges. He has spent lots of time getting to know new volunteers on home visits, getting outside to play, and trying his best to ignore the squirrels in our neighbourhood. We’re getting close to the end of our time together and he will be greatly missed by my friends, colleagues, and neighbours, but I am so excited to see where the next leg of his journey takes him. I’m grateful for this sweet and goofy boy!
