Mika's Updates
July 2023
NSD Mika is a self assured, curious pup who loves to work. She is learning to find appropriate toys to chew on and her loose leash walking in new environments. She loves her vest and going out into the world to run errands. She’s a smart girl and we’re excited to see her next steps.
October 2023
NSD Mika is a smart little learner who loves being out in the world. She’s learning to walk through the exciting leaves and to keep all four on the floor when she greets people. She loves people so much she just wants to give face kisses to everyone. She’s doing fantastic with her basic commands (sit, lie down, stay, etc.) and recall. She is great out in public and likes to snuggle up after a day of work.
April 2024
NSD Mika is a sweetheart who likes to snuggle almost as much as she likes to work. Her loose leash walking is great in many environments. She enjoys people and dogs, and her impulse control is improving around them. She is fearless and unfazed by new environments when she’s got her vest and her handler with her. She can settle through an entire work day with appropriate breaks. NSD Mika is a loving, caring dog and is a great little learner.
October 2024
I am now in high school classes and getting ready for my next adventure in NSD University! I’m really starting to get the hang of this service dog thing, so my puppy raiser takes me to lots of new and exciting places to practice. I am also learning new advanced skills such as 'back,' 'touch,' 'chin,' and stepping on the perch pot. In class, I practice stairs and different under-footings and work for new and different handlers. This is an important step in preparing me for the next phase of my training. At home, I am polishing up my manners around meal times, guests, and outdoor walks. Now that I have more impulse control, I get to have more freedom around the house and get to sleep out of my crate some nights.
