NSD Monty

Monty is currently with his adult raiser. He has started College and goes to NSD for training 1 day a week. When not at NSD, he learns how to settle, cuddle and continue to be a welcomed member of the community. This training will help prepare him to be matched with his client.

All of the training and care provided to each dog would not be possible without the support of generous volunteers and donors.

Training Updates

Monty is a sensitive boy that loves to snuggle and lick faces. A thoughtful guy, he prefers to go slow and watch the scene, before making any decisions on what to do. He is working on good house manners, along with crate training and where and when to use the potty. Monty is quite social while on outings, wanting to meet and greet folks and is learning to settle and stay focused on his handler. He is a smart fellow and picks things up quickly and is content to relax while in a familiar setting.

Monty is super affectionate and growing like a weed. He’s been working on avoiding distractions and is slowly but surely getting better, although our cat would probably say differently. He puts in his 8 hours at the Post Office and has a lot of groupies come and see him each day. Loves all people. I’m sure he will make a great service dog.

Monty is getting to be a big boy and starting high school soon. He’s a super cuddler and attends work with me every day. He’s working on distractions and is getting better all the time.

Monty is a sweet cuddly boy who is full of energy and loves meeting new people. He’s working on his distractions with other dogs when he just wants to play with them. He knows if you’re not feeling well and is quick to comfort you. He turned 1 year old today. He’s studying hard to be a good service dog.

Monty has been actively learning at University. They have been learning resiliency with their basic obedience; settling in the kennel, heeling, food refusal and dog distraction. They have also been working hard and learning expectations with handler transfers. The training team is excited to continue to build on these excellent foundation behaviours, by helping Monty transfer these skills into the community.

Monty is a friendly dog with a big heart. Monty is dedicated to his work and learning, and has already come leaps and bounds in his training at university. Monty loves to socialize with his dog classmates and is learning new skills every day.
