NSD Meara

Meara is currently with her adult raiser. She has started University and goes to NSD for training 5 days a week. When not at NSD, she learns how to settle, cuddle and continue to be a welcomed member of the community. This training will help prepare her to be matched with her client.

All of the training and care provided to each dog would not be possible without the support of generous volunteers and donors.

Training Updates

Meara is settling in nicely with me! She has been working on lots of her skills, including sit, down, and loose leash walking! She’s a very smart girl with a big personality. She will speak her mind when she wants to, but she also has a sweet, cuddly side. I’m really enjoying raising her!

Meara is now 6 months old- This girl has been growing and learning lots! Meara has been going out on all the new adventures and training outings and rocking them all. She is confident, sweet, cuddly and independent. As a team we are working on setting in public and not being distracted by all the people and dogs around us. Meara keeps surprising me everyday with how much she loves to work and learn!

Meara is maturing into such a well-mannered girl. She is now in Highschool classes where she gets to learn some fun new cues. She has recently learned touch and loves to show this cue off! Meara is such a quiet girl. She has been loving all the attention and cuddles lately. Her favourite thing to do is lean on you so you know she’s around. Meara is working on passing dogs on leash and not pulling or getting excited when she sees them. I am enjoying raising this beautiful girl so so much!

Meara has been working on fine tuning her skills! She loves to show off the new cues that she’s learned! Touch, stand and back up are her favourites. In just a few short months she will be onto her next stage and meet her adult raiser. Meara has been on lots of new adventures lately, including camping! Meara was the best camping buddy. Her calm, chill, mature attitude made camping a breeze. We are enjoying these last moments together!

Meara has been actively learning at University. They have been learning resiliency with their basic obedience; settling in the kennel, heeling, food refusal and dog distraction. They have also been working hard and learning expectations with handler transfers. The training team is excited to continue to build on these excellent foundation behaviours, by helping Meara transfer these skills into the community.

Meara is a bouncy girl with lots of talent. She is quick to pick up new skills and is always trying to go above and beyond. Meara likes to socialize with her classmates and has been quick to settle into the university life.
