NSD Destiny

Destiny is currently with her adult raiser. She has started University and goes to NSD for training 5 days a week. When not at NSD, she learns how to settle, cuddle and continue to be a welcomed member of the community. This training will help prepare her to be matched with her client.

All of the training and care provided to each dog would not be possible without the support of generous volunteers and donors.

Training Updates

Destiny is a confident puppy and always ready for new adventures. She enjoys loose leash walking, staying calm when meeting new people and learning to wait patiently before eating her meals. Lately, we’ve been working on basic obedience in higher distraction zones out in public. I’m thrilled to report she’s doing a great job!

Destiny is so happy & confident. She likes puppy sized adventures around Cambridge, playing tug, then chewing on a tasty toy. We’re training riding elevators, climbing stairs, going under obstacles & making great strides on ignoring distractions. She’s truly a joy to raise!

Destiny is growing up to be a very affectionate dog who loves to cuddle. She is learning how to be calm when meeting new dogs and loves to have play time with her friend ducky.

Destiny turned 1 year old this week & had a wonderful time celebrating with a trip to the dog park, photo shoot at NSD & pup cakes! She’s been practicing her skills in challenging new environments including Cambridge Bingo & the Waterloo International Airport.

Destiny has grown into a truly amazing young dog. She’s very attentive and loves working for affection and treats! The new skill she’s mastering right now is backing up. Although she looks a little awkward, she confidently knows she can move in reverse. Well done Destiny!!

Destiny has been actively learning at University. They have been learning resiliency with their basic obedience; settling in the kennel, heeling, food refusal and dog distraction. They have also been working hard and learning expectations with handler transfers. The training team is excited to continue to build on these excellent foundation behaviours, by helping Destiny transfer these skills into the community.

Destiny settled into university life immediately. She is a fast learner and has had no trouble fine-tuning her perch pot work.
