Lightning is currently with her puppy raiser. She is being taught a foundation of house manners and cues, for becoming a well-socialized part of the community.
All of the training and care provided to each dog would not be possible without the support of generous volunteers and donors.

Lightning is a very spunky girl who lives up to her name with a big personality and a big voice. Lightning has been working on learning her “puppy puppy” recall, sit, down, making eye contact, walking/keeping on the left, and becoming comfortable when left alone in her crate. Lightning’s crate manners are a work in progress, and she is working on remembering that only toys are for chewing. She is such an enthusiastic girl, has picked up every command very quickly, and has started walking very nicely on my left after hardly any practice. She is such a sweet girl that loves to cuddle with her humans.
NSD Lightning is sweet, brave, incredibly goofy, and will always choose your lap or feet as the ideal place for a snooze. Lightning is working hard at settling on a leash for longer periods of time, remaining calm around visitors, and staying focused on her handler outdoors while ignoring smells and chewable objects. Lightning excels at focusing on her handler, obeying commands, and ignoring distractions during indoor public outings, and she has no fear of exploring new things or walking on irregular surfaces. She has also made great strides at settling in public without barking, which is a big accomplishment for this vocal girl.
NSD Lightning is a very sweet, goofy girl, who loves to snuggle up on your lap, feet, between your legs, or however she can get closest to you. Lightning has been working hard on staying calm and quiet when guests arrive and refraining from eating sticks, pinecones, and other chewable objects when she’s on walks. Lightning excels at loose-leash walking and focusing on her handler when in jacket. Recently, Lightning has shown significant improvement in her ability to settle into a down-stay in public without becoming vocal or walking away.
