Viola is currently with her puppy raiser. She is being taught a foundation of house manners and cues, for becoming a well-socialized part of the community.
All of the training and care provided to each dog would not be possible without the support of generous volunteers and donors.

Viola is settling in nicely. She is a smart, feisty, playful girl. She picks up new cues quickly, especially when kibble is involved. She is working on sit, down, eye contact and walking on leash. We’ve taken a few car rides and she does well in her harness while we are driving. She enjoys naps in her kennel and loves her bear toy and kong.
Viola has been with us for 3 months now. She’s grown in size and ability. Currently, we are working on small public outings. She’s very excited about new places and people, and we are working on settling in these situations. Viola settles well at home and enjoys watching birds from our back door. She likes her morning walk around the block and watching the neighbourhood kids get on the school bus. She is an expert at squeaking her toys and enjoys a banana-filled kong as a special treat. She is a happy, funny pup and we are looking forward to starting Grade School next week.
Viola is doing very well in Grade School. She is learning new cues, (spin, turn, under) and enjoying meeting other NSD pups in different locations. She is slowly learning to settle in public spaces. Viola is enjoying the spring weather and being outside, watching the squirrels and birds while practicing staying on her mat for longer durations. Viola is a happy pup and brings a smile to our faces every day!
Viola is now in high school. She is enjoying being outside in this beautiful Spring weather. At the end of April, she went on her 2-week puppy swap. Her Swap Raiser John took her to work with him. I WFH so this was a big adventure for her. John took great care of her and at the end of two weeks, Viola came home with more experience with social skills and meet and greets. Thank you, John!! We also took an NSD outing on the ION to Waterloo Park. Viola did well on the train and enjoyed being with her NSD friends. We practiced our leave it cue for the month of May. Viola is very good at this now. She doesn’t reach for dropped kibble/food.
Viola is working on quite a few new cues. She is practicing her ‘down stays’, stand, up/off and ‘get dressed’ for her jacket and halti. Viola went swimming for the first time this month. She hung around the shore at the start, but once the other NSD pups went in after a stick, she followed and loved it! We’ll be practicing swimming and settling by the water this summer. Viola loves her new sniff mat and her squeaky rubber chicken. Which may occasionally squeak during my work calls 😄 She is a little goofy and is always up for a car ride. She loves looking out the window and watching the world go by.
