NSD Walter

Walter is currently with his puppy raiser. He is being taught a foundation of house manners and cues, for becoming a well-socialized part of the community.

All of the training and care provided to each dog would not be possible without the support of generous volunteers and donors.

Training Updates

Walter is both sweet and spunky. I believe he’s very bright because he will do things repetitively in the hopes of getting a food reward! Thankfully, the flip side of that is that he’s very good at heeding instructions when a treat is involved. He gets what I call the zoomies about once a day… running around and around, or back and forth… and when the energy is released, he’s back to being very calm. I think his biggest accomplishment is his success with looking directly at us when we’re holding food within a foot of him. He obviously still has work to do but he’s going to be an amazing companion for someone!

Walter is a friendly pup who enjoys being part of the action. He manages small groups of people beautifully and remains calm. He’s less calm when he’s with other dogs, but he’s always friendly and seems to adjust to the level of play desired by his playmate. He goes with us to physio and everyone looks forward to seeing him! We were all amazed at how confidently he navigated the trees and presents and stockings at christmas. He was part of the action without bothering anyone!

Walter is very calm and sociable and loves to meet new people. He has been working on the Spin cue and is very solid with the Touch cue as well. He went with me to a cafe to meet a friend and stayed in a settle for the whole 45 minutes. We’re very proud of him!

Walter is being welcomed into one of our upcoming classes at Companion College!
