What is the Annual Easter Egg Hunt for Dogs?

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt is held in eight cities across Ontario. Every Good Friday, thousands of plastic eggs are filled with dog treats and hidden over a defined area of a local park. Each egg also contains a coloured sticker, representing a chance to win one of hundreds of great prizes.

Registrants will receive two egg cartons, giving them the opportunity to collect up to 24 eggs. Participants who have collected donations on NSD's behalf will be eligible to collect more eggs based on the dollar value of the pledges they received:

  • $50 to 150 raised - one additional egg carton will be provided
  • $151 to 300 raised - two additional egg cartons will be provided
  • $301 to 500 raised - three additional egg cartons will be provided
  • $501 or more raised - four additional egg cartons will be provided

Event Rules

  • Registrants must register and be accompanied by at least one dog; there is a limit of one registration per participating dog. An official hunt bandana will be provided as proof of registration.
  • Dogs must be kept on leash at all times.
  • Stoop & Scoop rules apply; please come prepared with your own bags.

Prize Collection

A prize card will be given to all participants upon registration. Once the hunt is complete, the stickers from the collected eggs are transferred to the prize card. The prize card is then submitted to a volunteer who will distribute the prizes that have been won.

Grand Prizes

Two ways to win - Grand prizes will be awarded to the 3 individuals with the highest dollar value of pledges collected per location. Grand prizes will also be awarded to participants who have found a gold or silver egg.

Are you interested in hosting an Easter Egg Hunt in your community?

We are looking for volunteers to help us expand our biggest event of the year. Not only do the hunts help raise thousands of dollars to assist children with Autism, they also increase awareness of service dogs and the many benefits they provide to children and families in need.

Worried that your event won't be a hit? We provide you with all the tools you need to ensure your event is a success.

For more information on this rewarding opportunity, please contact Lindsay Havlin at lindsay@nsd.on.ca or 519-623-4188, ext. 10.

Due to increasing popularity of the Annual Easter Egg Hunts, NSD is unable to predict the exact number of eggs required and therefore cannot guarantee that all cartons will be filled.
