NSD Charlie

Charlie is currently with his adult raiser. He has started University and goes to NSD for training 5 days a week. When not at NSD, he learns how to settle, cuddle and continue to be a welcomed member of the community. This training will help prepare him to be matched with his client.

All of the training and care provided to each dog would not be possible without the support of generous volunteers and donors.

Training Updates

NSD Charlie is doing very well with his training. He likes the consistency of his daily routine and works very hard for his training treats. His loose leash walking is going very well and he is very good at ‘leave it’ when asked. He enjoys going out in public, experiencing new adventures and meeting new people along the way. His good behaviour is very impressive and he’s a lovely puppy to raise.

Charlie is now in Grade School and will be working on specific skills for the next few months. He is very eager to learn new things and likes when he gets to show me how well he remembers his homework. He has a very calm nature but also likes having the freedom to run and play in the garden. He’s a joy to train and I’m very much looking forward to working with him in the coming months.

NSD Charlie has grown into a beautiful, mature looking puppy. He has learned many skills and is currently working on staying calm when being exposed to different sights and sounds in public. Our Volunteer Coordinator Lauren has taken Charlie to meet potential new volunteers. Charlie recently visited Adults in Motion to meet adults with disabilities. I was very proud of how well he engaged with so many new people. Charlie is a pleasure to train!

NSD Charlie is a beautiful, calm, and affectionate puppy. He has been taken to meet many potential volunteers, and recently enjoyed visiting residents at Bankside Terrace. He greets everyone with such joy and enthusiasm, that you can’t help but smile when you meet him. Charlie continues to work on his settling skills as he completes his High School training. He is a joy to train.

Charlie is a quick learner and loves people. We are still working on him getting more comfortable in his kennel, for him to concentrate more on the leash holder during walks, and to get up in the back of an SUV. Charlie has done a great job at adjusting to his new home, and we can clearly see him progress and adjust well. We are excited for him to progress in his journey to help people.

Charlie continues to excel at all the new challenges thrown his way. He is really starting to mature and has shown superb manners at home and out in public. We are excited to welcome them to NSD University soon.

Charlie has been actively learning at University. They have been learning resiliency with their basic obedience; settling in the kennel, heeling, food refusal and dog distraction. They have also been working hard and learning expectations with handler transfers. The training team is excited to continue to build on these excellent foundation behaviours, by helping Charlie transfer these skills into the community.

Charlie is a lovely singer and fun to have at university. He is a beautiful walker and is always paying attention to his trainers with whatever they ask of him. Charlie is learning how to move his long body fluidly and has been perfecting his chin cue quickly.
