NSD Rawz

Rawz is currently with her adult raiser. She will continue to work hard on generalizing her cues and house manners in a new environment, with a new handler. This stage of training is to prepare them for University.

All of the training and care provided to each dog would not be possible without the support of generous volunteers and donors.

Training Updates

Rawz is settling into her puppy raising home so nicely! She is showing us her personalityNational Service Dogs one day at a time and it’s amazing to watch. She’s fierce, sassy, a little weird and a little (ok, a lot) wonderful. She is also always willing to work, is catching on very quickly to her training and LOVES when the kibble comes out. We can’t wait to watch her flourish as a future service dog!

Rawz, or Rawzy as we call her, is doing really well in her training! We are exposing her to new places, new people, new smells (omg so many smells) and she is taking it all in stride. She comes to the gym with us every morning and we get so many comments on how well-behaved she is for such a young pup and it makes us so proud! Right now we are working on her confidence, walking and jumping on different surfaces and staying calm around new friends, both 2-legged and 4-legged. She is doing well so far, progressing every day and we have learned that she will do anything for a banana coconut cookie pal!

Rawz has really grown up in the last few months and we are so proud! She is still her spunky little self, but she has a much calmer demeanour and is so great at listening to us, even with distractions around. We are still hard at work with her training and are trying to focus on her leash manners, confidence around new sounds and surfaces, and increasing the duration of her commands. We’re also introducing her to new adventures and friends so that she is a well-rounded pup when it comes time to work. Here’s a photo of her first experience on a boat, she loved it!!

Rawzy turned 1! She is still her spunky little self, but now she’s a “grown-up”. She is still learning and mastering her skills every day. Right now we are working on her ability to settle around other dogs and in public settings. Her spunk makes this a little hard sometimes, but she is such a smart dog and quickly catches on! Once she remembers her training and who holds the key to the treats she is a wonderful dog to work with.

Rawz is growing into a lovely dog! She was a great role model to NSD Epoxy before she moved on to her adult raiser in January. She has settled into her new home great and is working on refining all her skills over the coming months!

Rawz has been accepted into Companion College! She will start her training in the coming month to become a Companion Dog.
