VIP Harris

After an in-depth assessment, Harris has been streamed to our very important pet program for health/behavioural reasons. She will now have the important job of providing love to her forever family. Special thanks go out to her puppy and adult raisers for all their hard work.

All of the training and care provided to each dog would not be possible without the support of generous volunteers and donors.

Training Updates

Harris is a smart cookie with an impressive brain! She loves to train and keep busy. We are working hard on settling down, especiallyNational Service Dogs, NSD in busy environments. She makes me so proud and learns something new every day.

Harris has been working on walking nicely with a loose leash and ignoring all the exciting critters that have come out in the spring. She loves to hike and be outside, especially with her favourite toy, a rubber chicken, in her mouth!

Harris is a spunky girl. She absolutely loves to work and we joke that she has no “off switch”. She loves to run around and swim. Her favourite toy is still her rubber chicken. We have done lots of outings lately and she’s been wonderful in public. I can’t wait to see her mature over the next steps of her journey with NSD.

Harris has been accepted to NSD University! She will be starting training on November 22nd.

Harris is a driven dog with a passion for work. For the past month, she has been actively learning at University. She has been learning resiliency with their basic obedience. The first few weeks are based around settling in a new environment and learning to offer relaxed behaviours. This allows Harris to form a positive mindset and be ready to learn with new handlers. The training team is excited to continue to work with Harris and teach her what she needs to learn in order to become a great service dog.

Harris has been attending University for 2 months and learning the fundamentals of what will one day make her a great service dog. Harris will be taking a break from NSD University to mature and refine her skills with the support of her adult raiser.
