NSD Ember

Ember is currently with her volunteer puppy raiser. She is being taught a foundation of house manners and cues, for becoming a well-socialized part of the community.

All of the training and care provided to each dog would not be possible without the support of generous volunteers and donors.

Training Updates

Ember is such a sweetheart. She’s calm, a good listener, silly and loves showing everyone toys in her mouth. She has been having lots of fun enjoying hiking and snowshoeing adventures in the Rockies with our family (she wishes the snow would never melt) and meeting all different sizes of animals – including our horses, cattle, dogs, cats, chickens and our wee chicks. She is rocking her obedience work (under, visit, spin, ready) and spends lots of time with first responders at the Firehall where I work.

NSD Ember turned 1 this week, complete with a birthday party with her Rottweiler-pals, ice cream and a new unicorn toy.  Emmy goes to work with me (Alison) daily, visits restaurants, swimming pools and malls, takes cabs and spends a lot of time at the Firehall with our members.  She continues to grow into her gentle, kind, fun personality and we adore her.

When she’s not working, Emmy enjoys hikes in the mountains, wades in the cool rivers and “helping” us care for our horses, chickens, ducks, bees and cats.  She is always in search of the “perfect” stick to bring home.

Emmy is in her final month with us. We’re sad to see her go, but she’s so excited to head back to NSD to make new friends. She’s such a good-natured sweetheart. Ember spends her days working alongside me at the Calgary Zoo and at the firehall, and her spare time hiking, swimming (her favourite thing to do!) and enjoying ranch life including watching our ducks, keeping us company on horseback rides and helping with chores.
