NSD Beckett

Beckett is currently with his adult raiser. He will continue to work hard on generalizing his cues and house manners in a new environment, with a new handler. This stage of training is to prepare them for University.

All of the training and care provided to each dog would not be possible without the support of generous volunteers and donors.

Training Updates

Beckett is a handsome black lab retriever. He loves to play fetch and go for walks. We are working on him staying on his mat, when asked to stay, even if I leave the room. He has been gentle with helping the resident dog, Ms. Cali adapt to not just another dog joining the pack but a big dog. She is learning alongside him which is a bonus for them both. It’s nice to have a training partner.

Beckett is a beautiful well-mannered dog who loves lots of attention. He is adapting well to our home and schedules and has made a buddy in our family dog Cali. She was a bit fearful of bigger dogs but with Beckett’s gentle disposition she has become comfortable with his company and likes to play with him in the yard when we play fetch. They have even been found sharing a mat from time to time.

Beckett loves to eat. We are working on having him eat slower rather than gobbling up all his food at once and not to counter surf looking for more food when mealtime is done. He loves being outside and going for walks in the neighbourhood and woods. We are working on walking with the gentle leader and not pulling when walking. We are also working on walking beside me on the stairs rather than running ahead.

I have brought Beckett to work at NSD with me many times. And he is becoming more comfortable with all the activity there and all the other dogs around. I look forward to continuing to work with Beckett on his skills and helping him to be his best doggie self with the guidance and support of the NSD training staff.
